Literacy Term 2 2018

Oral Language
1.Brooke will present a narrative that she has written using her touch chat.


Brooke is a Learner when presenting her narrative using her Touch Chat. An adult will prepare the narrative on her Touch Chat for her and she is learning to select the speech button to present the whole narrative in front of her peers.

Next Steps: Brooke will continue to present her written work to an audience in order to enhance and maintain her oral language skills through her Touch Chat.

Reading
2. Brooke will work through the letter PM readers where she will use her TouchChat to locate words using pathways on her Touchchats.


Brooke is an Improver as she confidently works her way through the letter PM books, using her Touch Chat to locate words on her Touch Chat. To locate unfamiliar words this is modelled by an adult using the pink Touch Chat and then she is encouraged to find it herself. Brooke is thoroughly enjoying the reading rotation, she is motivated and likes to look at the Level 1 and 2 PM readers during this time as well.

Next Steps: Brooke will continue to work through the letter PM readers and locate words using the pathways on her Touch Chat. I would like to see Brooke eventually progress onto Level 1 and 2 books in the future.




Writing
3.Brooke will learn to write a narrative,using Colourful Semantics symbols.


Brooke is an Achiever when forming a narrative using Colourful Semantics symbols. Firstly Brooke watches and listens to a narrative, such as a fairy tale, She then makes alterations to the characters, theme, or details of the plot, resulting in the creation of her own narrative using a Colourful Semantics visual word bank created on BoardMaker to choose from. Brooke has enjoyed this activity this term and this is demonstrated in her motivation to complete the task.

Next Steps: Brooke will learn how to construct a letter to a friend using a Colourful Semantics visual word bank created on BoardMaker.


Maths - Money Skills

Learning Intention:

1. Brooke will identify all notes and coins using her TouchChat.

Brooke can identify all notes and coins using her Touch Chat with support. She has also been exploring her money spending skills on her EOTC fortnightly shopping trip to New World. Brooke alongside his peers has $2 to spend and she particularly likes to buy a Chocolate Milkshake. Brooke is learning that she can purchase a variety of treats.


Next Steps: Brooke will explore matching prices to coins and notes.

Managing Self ILP Goal Term 2 2018

Learning Intention:
1. Brooke can safely prepare and make a toasted sandwich and then cut this up using a knife and fork to eat with.

Brooke is an Achiever with this goal. Brooke is using a sequencing step by step TEACCH resource that she follows as a guide to support her preparing her toasty independently. Brooke has demonstrated good hygiene, organisational skills and awareness of safety when using hot appliances and utentsils. 
Brooke has been practicing her knife and fork skills using play-dough and slime to change the texture and pressure required when cutting various foods. Brooke can hold and grip her knife and fork well and apply pressure in a cutting motion to cut her food.    




Next Steps:
Brooke will identify emotions and practice techniques to regulate her response in situations where she experiences identified emotions. 

EOTC - New World Term 2 2018




Money skills Term 2 2018 - Visit to New World to spend $2 on a food choice and try and save a little each week in order to have more money to spend at the next visit.

Communication ILP Goal Term 2 2018

Learning Intention:
1. Brooke can engage with adults and friends by responding to questions asked of her.

Brooke is an Improver in this area - this year Brooke has been a little more open to using her Touch Chat as well as using her own voice to respond to someone communicating with her. Brooke has been using her Touch Chat in all learning areas in order to encourage her to be more open with using it and this is evident with how much more she is communicating.





Next Steps: Brooke will share news by taking a photo of something she has done at school this will be shared on a visual scene pathway and then she will share at news times.
Brooke will use her Touch Chat to make connections with her new Friends and Teachers at Waitaha School in preparation to her transitioning next year.

Maths Term 2 2018

Learning Intentions

1. Brooke will learn about Patterns.

2. Brooke will explore number using her Touch Chat and TEACCH activities

Brooke has been working hard with her Maths skills. She has been making good use of her Touch Chat and linking it to her number work. Brooke shows she enjoys these activities. Brooke is an Improver when she identifies numbers 1-10 on her Touch Chat. She is a Learner when making sequencing patterns using colour. 
Brooke enjoys TEACCH activities that require her to match numbers which she does with very little support.

Next Steps: Brooke will continue to become independent with her pattern making skills which forms good foundations to mathematical skills. She will also continue to develop her communication skills for Maths using her Touch Chat in all Mathematical areas.
